Scope:

Introduction

Intent

This test is intended to determine the ability of fiber optic interconnecting devices, device interfaces, and strain reliefs to withstand bending and flexing stresses resulting from loads as might be experienced during installation and service conditions.

Typical indications of damage resulting from this test may be:

a) Loss or degradation of optical transmittance ability (both multimode and single-mode applications).

b) Decrease in return loss (increase in reflectance) (single-mode applications only).

c) Loss of seal integrity at the device interface.

d) Broken parts, accessories, or cable fibers.

e) Breakage, chipping or scratching of the interface.
