Scope:
The purpose of this test is to determine the effects of repeated
matings and unmatings on the
optical and mechanical characteristics of fiber optic connectors and
of other interconnecting
devices. The number mating/unmating cycles should be selected to
simulate the expected life of the
connectors under test.
Typical indications of damage resulting from this test may be:
Broken or excessively worn parts.
Inability to mate or unmate properly.
Damage or wear to seals.
Breakage, chipping or scratching of the interface.
Optical degradation.
