CEA CEA-775.1 Document Information:
Title
Web Enhanced DTV 1394 Interface Specification
Consumer Electronics Association
Publication Date:
Mar 1, 2000
Scope:
This EIA-775.1 standard includes mechanisms to allow a source of
MPEG service, such as a cable or terrestrial set-top box, digital
VCR, or DTV to utilize the MPEG decoding and display capabilities
in a DTV. A control means using web and Internet protocols is the
main feature of this standard. It enables user control of remote
appliances via another appliance's (e.g., DTV or PC) web
browser graphical user interface (GUI). The controlled service
(e.g., MPEG source) passes requested GUI data to the DTV
for presentation typically over the decoded video.
The control graphics, typically designed in to the controlled
appliance, may utilize any content design up to and including the
full capability of the specified technology. Thus the specification
describes the minimum capability of the EIA-775.1 browser. A DTV
browser may have more capability for world-wide web surfing,
E-Commerce or Enhanced TV applications but that is out of scope for
this EIA-775.1 specification.
The requirements of this standard are in addition to and
complement EIA-775A; all devices compliant with EIA-775.1 shall
also comply with EIA-775A.
