Scope:

This sectionai specification is applicable to circular multicontact connectors of assessed quality for use in direct current and low frequency analog applications, and in digitai applications employing high speed data rates. This sectional specification shall be used in conjunction with the generic specification ELA 7000000 and the basic specification ETA-364.

This Specification includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following types of circular connectors:

a) Circular multicontact connector with threaded coupling.

b) Circular multicontact connector with bayonet coupling.

c) Circular multicontact connector with push-pull coupiing.

d) Circular multicontact connector with breech coupling.

The sectionai specification shall be used in conjunction with detail specifications covering specific circular multicontact connectors or families of circular multicontact connectors. The detail specifications shall not degrade the requirements of the sectional or generic specifications.

Objective

The objectives of this specification are:

a) To define a uniform numbering system to be used for all circular multicontact connectors standardized by the Electronic Industries Association (ETA).

b) To define a uniform quality assessment system.

c) To defĂ­ne uniform qualification test sequences.

d) To provide consistency for connectors by specifing terminology, symbols, test methods, and other necessary information.
