IEC 60478-5 Document Information:
Title
Stabilized power supplies, d.c. output Part 5: Measurement of the magnetic component of the reactive near field
Alimentations stabilisées à sortie en courant continu - Partie 5: Mesure de la composante magnétique du champ réactif proche
International Electrotechnical Commission
Publication Date:
Jan 1, 1993
Scope:
This part of IEC 478 specifies the measuring equipment and techniques to be used in assessing the near field radiated electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by stabilized power supplies of the switched-mode type (SM PS).
No limit values are stated. The measured values, to be quoted by the manufacturer, will enable the user to judge the degree of compatibility with the final equipment projected and to make a simple comparison of performance levels in between products from different manufacturers.
The measurement method shall preferably be applied when a limit value is to be agreed between a user and a manufacturer for power supplies for special applications.
The specified test method of this specification relates to the frequency range 10 kHz to 30 Mhz.
The requirements for measurement of conducted electromagnetic interference are available in IEC 478-3.
The printed circuit board spiral antenna may also act as a point-source magnetic field inducing device for immunity measurement. The procedure method falls outside the scope of this part of IEC 478.
