ATIS Initiative to Coordinate Standards Development for Emergency Notification Systems

The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) is working on an initiative to coordinate the development of standards and guidelines for Emergency Notification Systems (ENS).

The initiative will focus on:

  • Creating universal guidelines for ENS providers and users.
  • Developing recommendations for vendor development.
  • Generating solutions to prevent carrier network congestion situations.
  • Enabling successful call completion and delivery of emergency notification messages.

ATIS Network Interconnection Interoperability Forum (NIIF) Network Inter-Operability Committee (NIOC) is leading the effort and coordinating the input of groups including:

  • The Village of Mundelein, Ill. Police Department.
  • National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
  • Reverse 9-1-1.
  • Aizan.
  • Allport Group.
  • MyStateUSA.
  • ClassCo.

ATIS NIIF NIOC welcomes the participation of vendors, equipment manufacturers, public safety organizations, state public utility commissions or other parties interested in contributing to the development of ENS standards and guidelines.
