The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) will amend its guide for performing arc flash hazard calculations.

IEEE P1584b - IEEE Guide for Performing Arc Flash Hazard Calculations - Amendment is designed to enable more accurate arc-flash calculations by incorporating the experience gained by the members of the Arc Flash Hazard Calculations Working Group, according to the IEEE.

It will also clarify wording and make the previous standard easier to follow.

The IEEE also began revising IEEE P1566 - Standard for Performance of Adjustable Speed AC Drives Rated 375 kW and Larger.

The update will reflect recent industry developments and incorporate user feedback.
