The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) began work on IEEE P24748 - Systems and Software Engineering - Guide for Life Cycle Management.
The standard, which is sponsored by the Software & Systems Engineering Standards Committee of the IEEE Computer Society, will produce a guide for the life cycle management of systems and software based on two earlier standards, International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 15288 and ISO/IEC 12207.
This guide will address systems concepts and life cycle concepts, models, stages, processes, process application, key points of view, tailoring and use in various domains.
When completed, this standard will assist users in applying ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207 and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 to their specific problems.
The standard will support the harmonization of the software and systems engineering standards of the IEEE and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 7.
