The WiMedia Alliance certified four ultra-wideband (UWB) platforms from Artimi Inc. (one platform), NEC Electronics Corp. (two platforms) and Tzero Technologies (one platform).
These platforms bring the total number of WiMedia Certified Wireless Platforms (CWPs) to 23, said the WiMedia Alliance.
Platform certification is the culmination of the alliance's certification program and designates compliance with the internationally standardized WiMedia UWB specifications, according to the WiMedia Alliance.
CWPs were tested at both the Physical (PHY) and Medium Access Control (MAC) layers.
The number of WiMedia CWPs available doubled since the first CWPs were announced in October 2007, said the WiMedia Alliance.
Additionally, consumer wireless USB products are available in the market from Belkin, D-Link, Dell, Iogear, Lenovo, NEC and Toshiba.
