Xterprise Inc. created a "software-as-a-service (SaaS)" edition of its Xterprise automated radio frequency identification (RFID) module (XARM) specifically targeted at retail suppliers required to meet the Sam's Club pallet tagging requirement.

The XARM 5000 (on-demand) solution will use a hosted application and web technology, which will enable remote RFID label printing from a web browser versus an application terminal.

The XARM 5000 solution is turnkey and includes the following features:

  • User management and access control.
  • Creation and management of retail shipment destinations.
  • Automated generation of sequential serial numbers.
  • Printer management.
  • Electronic product code (EPC) RFID encoding for each stock keeping unit (SKU) being tagged.
  • RFID label selection for read rates in the retail environments.
  • Support of the solution under a tiered support plan.

The solution has a hosted application server that users, with a web browser, will be able to log onto and generate RFID label print jobs, said Xterprise.

The solution includes two configurable options for label printing; either printed locally on printer(s) installed at the customer site or generated at Xterprise, who will overnight ship the labels to the customer site.

The XARM 5000 solution is built on RFID platform technology from Microsoft, BizTalk Server 2006 R2, and will include RFID printer technology from Zebra Technology.
