IEEE P1805 to Address IT 'Requirements Capture Language'
September 10, 2009 // Published as a news service by IHS
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association (IEEE-SA) will develop IEEE P1805 - Guide for Requirements Capture Language (RCL), which will help facilitate automatic software size calculation.
According to IEEE-SA, RCL aims to provide a means of transferring business perspective to IT teams.
When finished, the guide will apply to scenarios where:
- IT requirements need to be captured for creating or maintaining a software-based system.
- Business perspective transfer is needed between business groups and IT departments and/or IT services companies.
- IT requirements need to be automatically sized after requirements capture is over, using a function points sizing technique.
RCL information will be presented in a tree-like structure, which will help fit the needs of IT requirements, according to IEEE-SA.
IEEE P1805 is sponsored by the Software & Systems Engineering Standards Committee of the IEEE Computer Society.
