The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) published four arc welding standards in the ANSI/IEC 60974 series, covering cooling systems, equipment, wire feeders and gas consoles.
The standards are:
The above standards join ANSI/IEC 60974-1, published in April 2009. Each standard adopts an IEC 60974 document as an American national standard and includes U.S. differences, as identified by the NEMA-administered ANSI Accredited Standards Committee W1.
"The adoptions of IEC 60974 parts 2, 3, 5, and 8 as American national standards are important for manufacturers in the arc welding and plasma cutting industry in that the standards define the requirements of the U.S. market for liquid cooling systems, arc striking and stabilizing devices, wire feeders and gas consoles," said John Freudenberg, W1 chair.
