The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in partnership with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), will host Interoperability: Key to International Business in Warsaw, Poland, February 6-7, 2008.

Interoperability is the ability of two or more networks, systems, devices, applications or components to exchange and utilize information between them.

Given the increasing diversity of products and systems in the global village, experts said interoperability is of paramount importance to minimize marketplace fragmentation and facilitate trade.

Stakeholders from industry, government, and the standards and conformity assessment community will discuss standards-based solutions to interoperability challenges at the upcoming conference.

Key issues to be addressed include:

  • Home and building electronic systems (HBES).
  • eBusiness interoperability.
  • Radio frequency identification devices (RFID).
  • Entertainment (multimedia, digital TV).
  • eHealth, eLearning, eSkills and eGovernment.
  • Technical interoperability demonstration and testing.
  • Quality of standards.

Registration is open at www.interoperabilityconference.org.
