The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) reaffirmed NEMA ICS 61800 - Adjustable Speed Electrical Power Drive Systems Part 1: General Requirements - Rating Specifications for Low Voltage Adjustable Speed Direct Current (D.C.) Power Drive Systems.

NEMA ICS 61800 (R2007) applies to general purpose adjustable speed D.C. drive systems that include power conversion, control equipment and a motor or motors.

Excluded are traction and electrical vehicle drives.

It is approved as an American National Standard.
