Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Device Architecture version 1.0 and 76 UPnP device and service specifications were approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Joint Technical Committee 1 (JTC 1) in the Publicly Available Specification (PAS) transposition process.

The JTC PAS process enables JTC 1 to recognize standard solutions to IT problems that were developed outside JTC 1, according to the UPnP Implementers Corp. (UIC).

The goal is to complement existing or forthcoming JTC 1 programs.

The UPnP Device Architecture and UPnP Device Control Protocol (DCP) specifications were submitted to the PAS transposition process in 2006 and the specifications were approved in 2007.

The UIC is doing the final editing and formatting of UPnP specifications and expects to submit the documents to ISO/IEC later this year.

The documents will be numbered IS 29341-X, where X will be a part number for each of the specifications.
