Several wireless technology companies will provide CDMA2000 devices, equipment and services for the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) frequency band.
Less than a year after the U.S. Federal Communication Commission (FCC) issued licenses in the AWS band, license holders, especially those that deployed CDMA2000, are positioned for wireless broadband services by using the larger AWS bandwidth allocation, according to the CDMA Development Group (CDG).
According to the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association (CTIA), the AWS spectrum will allow current and future service providers to offer wireless broadband services to more people.
Activity in the AWS band also benefits consumers and enterprises by driving industry competition, claims the CDG.
Several vendors will offer CDMA2000 products and services within the AWS band including:
AWS license holders and vendors established a special interest group (SIG) within the CDG to focus on developing the CDMA2000 ecosystem including the procurement of devices for the AWS band.
