TIA Issues ISIM Application on UICC for CDMA2000 Spread Spectrum Systems - TIA 1078
July 4, 2009 // Published as a news service by IHS
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) released TIA 1078 - ISIM Application on UICC for CDMA2000 Spread Spectrum System.
TIA 1078 defines the IP multimedia services identity module (ISIM) application. This application resides on the universal integrated circuit card (UICC), an integrated circuit card - or "smart" card.
For ISIM application for access to IP multimedia subsystem services in CDMA2000 systems, TIA 1078 specifies:
- Specific command parameters. File structures.
- Contents of elementary files.
- Security functions.
- Application protocol to be used on the interface between UICC (ISIM) and terminal.
TIA 1078 addresses ISIM implementation on UICC only. This is to ensure interoperability between an ISIM and terminal independently of the respective manufacturer, card issuer or operator, according to the TIA.
TIA 1078 does not define any aspects related to the administrative management phase of the ISIM. Any internal technical realization of either the ISIM or the terminal is only specified where these are reflected over the interface. This standard does not specify any of the security algorithms that may be used.
TIA 1078 was formulated under the cognizance of TIA Engineering Committee TR-45 Mobile & Personal Communications Systems, TR-45.5 Subcommittee on Spread Spectrum Digital Technology.
